Happiness is like a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.

Today marks the end of the first week of my IMH posting. Being in ward 35A has been an eye-opener for me. I have always had the impression that the ward setting in IMH would be similar to the general wards in other hospitals, but i was wrong. The whole place was close to a prison cell, the only difference was that it was not iron-gated. They have a day room entitled to them to carry out the various activities but there's not even a single activity organised by the ward staff, so all you can see is patients lying all over the day room SLEEPING. How cool.

And talking about patients, i get to meet people of varying behaviours in the ward; some are almost mentally stable whereas most are not. They can be very nice to you at one moment, and turn agressive or even seriously psychotic the next. And i swear it is really scary when that happens. Especially when mine's a male ward. Sungguh happening.

But at the same time too, i find these people entertaining. They can just come up with all sorts of funny actions or even talk in a nonsensical way and make me laugh.
We girls even match names of cartoon characters like Shrek, Monster Inc and Popeye to certain patients to make our gossip session more interesting. Hehe. In that way too, we are able to identify the patients cos there are just too many of them in there.

Oh well, i don't know about the rest but i am enjoying this posting. There's even cute male nurses to look at whilst in the ward laa. Haha. Five more days to go and we're done. (:
